New Yam Festival on the move.

The Akoko people in Ondo state are in festive mood as the New Yam is celebrated from one community to the other. On Saturday 16th July, 2016 it was Iyani Akoko's turn to celebrate while Gedegede celebrated hers on Monday 18th July, 2016. Ikaramu marked her New Yam Festival on Tuesday 19th July, 2016 with every home preparing pounded yam meal for the family to mark the celebration. The grand finale is slated for Saturday 23rd July, 2016 at the Old Oba's palace where everybody with be entertained with cultural dispay and competition by women from each of the five major quarters in Ikaramu. Today 20th Day July, 2016 Arigidi Akoko took her turn to celebrate, what a fun! The celebration is not limited to Akoko alone.
